Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
The Senior Educational Leadership Team is responsible for the educational programs at our BIBS Shunyi campus. The individual and collective experience of our educational leadership team is extensive and impressive. This team is tasked with realizing the Beanstalk bilingual educational mission, modeling the behaviours identified in our school motto, and ensuring the professional implementation of our three International Baccalaureate Programs (PYP, MYP, and DP) with the Chinese National Curriculum.

With over twenty years of experience in education, Ms. Shi and BIBS are committed to integrating China's education with Western education in supportive and stimulating environments.

Former Vice Principal of RDFZ, Senior Teacher, Special-class Teacher in Physics. Member of the National Expert Training Program of the Ministry of Education, the first group of State-level Backbone Teachers of the Ministry of Education's "Cross-century Gardener Project". Former Deputy Director of the Science Popularization Work Committee of the Chinese Physical Society, Committee Member of the Beijing Institue of Physics, former Deputy Director of the Competition Committee, former Director of the Beijing Youth Science and Technology Association. The only 2022 Yale University Distinguished Educator award winner from mainland China.

John McBryde is an educator with over 25 years of experience as Director/Head of School in five international schools in Asia, including 9 years as Director of the Western Academy of Beijing during its growth and development phase during 1998- 2007.John is co-founder of ACAMIS and served on both the ACAMIS and EARCOS Boards. He has extensive experience in IB Programs and school accreditation. He was awarded the "Foreign Expert Award" by the Beijing Municipal Government for his outstanding contribution to Chinese education.John’s keen interests include Future Education, Learning Technologies, Community, Service and The Arts.

Dr. Paul Kim

Dr. Paul Kim

Director, BIBS Center of Future Education Dr. Kim is the Chief Technology Officer and Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Education at Stanford University, who received his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Technology from the University of Southern California in 1999. As an education technology entrepreneur, Dr. Kim designs and implements mobile technologies and social learning environment for Stanford undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Kim serves on the Board of Directors of WestEd, the Committee on Grand Challenges in International Development for the National Academies of Science, and the advisory committee for the National Science Foundation's Education and Human Resources Directorate.

Dr. Angela Wu

Dr. Angela Wu
For approximately 25 years, Dr. Wu has been an IBEN educator in both China and Singapore. Her academic background includes a Ph.D. in Language & Literature. Dr. Wu plays the role as a IB Bilingual Workshop Leader for MYP, DP, and CP and doubling as the role of examiners for several international programs, including the China Gaokao, IB DP, A level, and IGCSE. She is the author of coursebooks for IBDP, IGCSE, and PYP.Beyond teaching and examining, Dr. Wu has taken up leadership roles as an IB Programme Leader and spearheaded Multi-programme and/or Synchronized Visits. Her extensive experience spans over 25 years of visiting schools and conducting workshops throughout the Asia-Pacific region, exposing her to diverse styles and strategies that continually inspire her pursuit of excellence.
Brian Yang

Brian Yang

Brian Yang holds a PhD in Physics from Yale University, and graduated from Peking University for his undergraduate studies. He worked in the management consulting industry for a number of years at McKinsey & Co. in its US and China offices. Before joining BIBS, Brian Yang participated in leading the preparation and management of a K12 international school. He co-designed the core STEM curriculum as a core member of the global educational design team, developed and led an innovative project-based educational program that combines technology, art, and design. He also led the educational management of the school.


Gavin Johnson

Gavin Johnson

Mr. Gavin Johnson is a life-long educator with over 20 years of educational experience of which 12 of these are in international education. He has a wealth of experience within the IB programs and has also worked within the A-level and GCSE systems. Having been in China and Bilingual schools for the last 8 years he is a firm believer in bring the best of east and west education together for students to become internationally minded students. He has a passion for social and emotional learning and believes that support every student’s individual’s needs is crucial within a school setting. Student Leadership is another area he like to focus on making sure all students develop and demonstrate leadership skills as education is about preparing the worlds future leaders.

Mariana Mu

A master of Chinese language and literature, with more than 14 years of international school education operation management and teaching management experience, has served as a teacher, subject group leader, IBDP coordinator and other positions, proficient in international education, international school curriculum construction, teaching management. Has a teaching leadership certificate from Harvard Graduate School of Education, is a speaker of IB China Education Forum and a global examiner of Cambridge IGCSE. Holds IBDP coordinator Cat3 training certificate, IBDP Chinese Cat2 training certificate, high school Chinese teacher qualification certificate and national Mandarin level 1 B certificate.

Mr. Ben Wong is a IBDP Economics teacher, he has been teaching Huijia private school, Beijing Royal School, and Liaoning University of Technology about the Economics. The First Prize of the Young Lecturers Competition in the First Term of 2013-2014, School of Economics, Liaoning University of Technology. Marketing management assistant, American management & marketing association (AMMA). A key member of the University of Stirling Team which achieved 2nd place in the prestigious CFA Institute Research Challenge in the UK (CFA) of 2013 Saltire Awards (The Scottish Government) of 2013 CFA scholarship (CFA) of 2013. ACAMS Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist.

Carol Wan

Carol Wan

Ms. Carol Wan has a bachelor’s degree in English Education, studying for Ph.D. in Management Psychology and Educational Psychology, Beijing Family Education Instructor. She has 5 years of homeroom teacher experience, and 7 years family-school partnership and government relations experience. During the period of school visiting in Singapore and America, she has been trained in international programs like Primary Curriculum (IPC) system. She has a deep understanding of character education, social-emotional learning (SEL), personal-social and health education (PSHE). As a school leader and the child protection officer, she plays an important role during the CIS accreditation. Education is all a matter of love and example. She believes that everyone makes progress at his/her own pace!
